9. You need to be comfortable in your own company
Obviously this won’t apply to all self-employed people. Whatever you end up doing, you might be part of a team, whether that’s being based in the same place, or whether you all work from home but still have occasional contact. But many self-employed folk with computer-based jobs are at home, by themselves. For some of us, that’s not a problem—including myself. I need quiet and a lack of distractions in order to concentrate, anyway. I could never be one of these writers who goes and sits in a café or coffee shop—I’d get absolutely nothing done.
